At the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon, Maheka was amongst the celebrities who ran for the cause of autistic children.
At the recently concluded Lakme Fashion Week 2013, Maheka was invited to be a part of the Save Our Tiger Project where her creation was shortlisted from a total of 140 designs and showcased on the runway.
Maheka’s latest initiative is a fight against cancer. The designer, who lost her father and brother-in-law to cancer in the span of just one year, has set up a charitable foundation at the Tata Memorial hospital (TMH) for providing financial assistance to the underprivileged towards cure for cancer as a whole and Head & Neck cancer in particular. Christened MCan foundation, this charitable foundation was kicked off with a grand charity gala and fund raiser.
Honoring her achievements over the decades as one of the pioneers in Fashion whose work is widely appreciated, the Punjabi Cultural Heritage Board (PCHB), an organization of prominent Sikhs & Punjabis of Mumbai and Maharashtra, selected Maheka Mirpuri for the prestigious "Punjabi Icon Award" 2013 in the "Women Achievers" category.
Plans are afoot to take the eponymous label, which has been a success for over a decade, to newer heights through line and brand extension. Headquartered in south Bombay as a "By Appointment Only" couture-de-salon, Maheka is now taking her collection to other cities in India as well as expanding internationally, besides retailing it online.
