How to be the party princess

The party season is here and it’s time to channel your inner glamazon, let go of all the stylistic inhibitions that you may have harbored in the year gone by. Wearing a chignon slightly messy and a bold bright pout, I bet each one of you will own every room you walk into as you partake X’mas festivities! Capturing the spirit of the season, my new collection is an essence of today’s style junkie – fearless, confident and ready to take on the world. Picture a menagerie of styles which help you mix and match and play dress up and you’ve nailed my core aesthetic.

Festive chic

Diwali festivities are around the corner and it’s the time to go all out and embrace your convival spirit. The very mention of the festival of light brings to mind – elegant card parties, boisterous family sit-down dinners and fun late nights with friends. Laughter, banter, flower arrangements, flickering diyas and delectable delicacies – all make it truly an evening to remember.

A moment of gratitude

The sweat of the brow, the anxiety of meeting deadlines, the hectic schedules, the awry sleep hours, the umpteen meetings, the angst over whether things will go as per plan….it’s all over. Phew….Putting together an event is a great task and no matter how well in advance you start working towards it, the run up to the final evening is nothing short of sheer craziness.

Monsoon style inspo

When it rains, it pours and that’s certainly true for the erratic Mumbai monsoons. Now the million dollar question is – how to look up-to-the-second chic in this wet weather without skipping a style beat? There’s humidity enough to kill you besides the muck on the streets! So you need tread with caution and marry style with functionality.

Dissecting travel chic

unnamed (4)

June has been a month of the much-needed travel, endless shopping sprees and in the process, rediscovering myself. That brings me to the often-debated-and-discussed topic in fashion – ‘travel chic’. Airport style is something which has always intrigued style arbiters across the board. When one dissects travel chic, supermodel Rosie Huntington Whiteley’s leather tights, suede boots and sunnies come to mind instantly. However, no one comes close to the ultra-stylish Beckhams when one dwells upon airport style – fashion’s unrivalled first family comprising David, Victoria, Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper swear by made-to-measure and give bespoke a completely new meaning. David’s trench coats and Posh’s oversized sunnies and turtle neck jumpers have become epochal over the years.

Wimbledon chic

When one thinks of the Lawn Tennis style, one can’t help but dwell on the polished and understated style of the Duchess of Cambridge. Her tea length, white eyelet dresses have always been the talkingpoint. Besides the classic whites, she’s shown a penchant for bold graphic prints and solid tones like tangerine. Kate’s Jonathan Saunders belted basket-weave-print dress is perhaps one of her most striking looks so far. Kate’s sister Pippa’s style is worth mentioning too – she’s often gravitated towards knitted day dresses, jacket layering, head-to-toe hounds-tooth prints and sailor stripes. A pair of oversized sunnies and a classic tote add to the great finish. Any Wimbledon enthusiast itching to look up-to-the-second chic may borrow a lesson or two from Kate and Pippa’s myriad tennis looks over the years.
